INTERVIEW: SPACESHIPS AND LASER BEAMS

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. Please see policies for more information.

When I first looked at the blog Spaceships and Laser Beams (besides being jealous of their adorable blog design) I was blown away by the boy inspiration. The parties they feature are some of the best I’ve seen for boys. Shortly after, I noticed that they actually create boy party products!

Spaceships and Laser Beams is an Etsy shop with products created by a collective of talented, professional designers. They feature amazingly designed, printable products that help you easily create a stylish and fully put together party JUST for the little man in your life.

I asked Stephanie at Spaceships and Laser Beams if I could get an interview with her to find out a little more about her company. I was SO excited when she agreed!

Stephanie can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Stephanie and I live in Canada with my gorgeous 21 month old son, Sam, and my equally gorgeous husband, Mike. I’m intensely proud of the fact that I am originally from Newfoundland. I have great intentions to exercise more, work less and ignore housework.

What is your business name and what do you do?
Spaceships and Laser Beams is an Etsy Collective that was formed by a great group of professional designers, illustrators and marketers. We create unique DIY party products just for boys.

What is something unique about your company?

We only sell products for boys. Moms don’t need to wade through pink fairy princess parties to find the one cool boys’ collection. It’s all we do. Plus, because we’re comprised of professional designers, all of our illustrated work is 100% original. You won’t find clip art in our shop.

What inspires you to create for boys?
There’s so much out there for girls. But, if you’re into design and style, there’s a real gap in the party products available for little boys. We’re moms, dads, aunts and uncles to little boys so we see it first hand. We wanted to create a place that we could truly call a “no princess zone.”

What is your favorite thing about boys?
Watching my son grow has been the greatest pleasure in my life. Right now I am loving how fully he throws himself into play. We’re doing a toddler gymnastics class and he shows very little fear. He doesn’t hesitate to jump high, grab bars or swing in the air – giggling the whole time. The higher, the faster, the better. And he fully trusts that I will be there to catch him. Boys are cool.

What is your favorite boy toy(s)?
A ball. Super inexpensive, anyone can afford one, every boys loves one and it provides hours of endless fun.

What is your favorite food?
The same answer I always give — my grandmother’s tea biscuits. I’m originally from Newfoundland and tea biscuits are practically soul food there.

Thank you SO much for the interview Stephanie! I loved getting to know you and your business a little better.

Here are some of my favorites from their shop. One of the things I love about these is that not only do they make your home parties amazing and perfect, they make it SO easy to incorporate a theme into a party that isn’t at your home. An easy way to bring everything together for a party at the park, skating rink, bounce house etc.
