LEARNING: STRIP ANIMATION

Strip animation is one form of animation that’s easy to duplicate. Turn it into a card to give to a friend or family member and you’ve got a win-win.

My boys don’t always love making homemade cards so turning it into something fun (and the use of LEGO minifigs) sometimes helps.

To create a simple strip animation card I had the boys measure out windows for their building. Ours measured 1″ wide and 1.25″ tall with .5″ in between each one.

While they were drawing/coloring their building I photographed some LEGO minifigs and printed out the strip for them onto cardstock. This strip is 1″ wide by 8.5″

You could also just draw people/animals to go up and down the elevator or whatever you are making your strip animation into (raindrops, waterfall etc)

Make a slit on the tops and bottoms of each window or strip opening and feed the strip through.

Then pull the strip up and down so the characters can go up and down the elevator

There are so many variations you could make with this project so let your (or your kids’) imagination take over!
