Fall Apple Cider Bar

My boys LOVE fall. It’s definitely their favorite time of year. The changing of seasons (well the weather cools down a bit for us in the desert anyway) and the excitement of the holidays. I take advantage of that excitement and try to plan fun activities with friends and family – even just a small little get together can be made fun with a “reason” to get together like this easy Fall Apple Cider Bar.

I love little things like this that looks so fun and special for the kids, but that is quick and easy to put together.

To keep the “quick and easy” theme going I clean up with Clorox disinfecting wipes. I love that we can clean most surface areas with them and it’s easy to use. They are also great for disinfecting those germy spots like doorknobs, light switches, TV remotes, faucets and plastic toys. When my niece and nephew come over (or other family and friends during the holidays) I try to remember to clean all the toys they play with so the boys don’t spread their school germs with their cousins! If someone does happen to get sick we go crazy disinfecting the house to keep it from spreading!

For our cider bar we had

  • cider (hot and cold)
  • chocolate candy
  • marshmallows
  • freeze dried cinnamon apples
  • caramels
  • cinnamon sticks
  • cinnamon
  • ice cream (for floats)
  • whipped cream

If your kids aren’t old enough to pour you can put the cider in a beverage container with a spout. Have the kids add all the toppings they want to their cider. It’s funny to see how different the kids are. There are always some who are super conservative with what they put in their cider and others who load it all in!

The ice cream was definitely a hit with both the hot and cold cider.

The chocolates and caramels are great for the hot cider because they melt in your drink (use a cinnamon stick for a stir stick but remind kids not to use them as a straw).

Once everyone has made their masterpieces – real life starts to show, you know, the mess!

  1. I try to work out at lunch and run so that way if we have something after work or if I splurge a little I've already exercised.

I'm with Hanna^ on "sweating it out" to keep the germs away but we are also fans of the Clorox wipes. We buy in bulk at Costco and they are indispensable for a household with a potty training 2 year old!

  3. I stay healthy by watching portion sizes and drinking a ton of water!!

Love the Apple Cider Bar, we keep up our good sleep habits so we don't get run down and catch a cold or the flu. We tend to over eat a bit during the holidays so we stay healthy during the busy holiday season by getting outdoors when the weather is nice to burn off those extra calories and stress.

  5. We try to stay healthy by taking vitamins and frequent handwashing.

LOVE the thought of a Cider bar! I wonder if I might incorporate it into our Thanksgiving party… awesome!

For my entry on staying healthy during the holidays, I like to drink a Green Monster once a day. Rich with antioxidants and vitamins, it really jumps starts my morning, along with a healthy diet and exercise (chocolate IS a food group, don't judge me lol). I try my best to get to the gym so that helps to fight off any icky feels. Other than that I just take extra care with disinfecting my home with the same wipes you use and educating the family on things to help keep us healthy…. sharing is caring except for germs so not sharing drinks or food, cough/sneeze into your arm (not hands!), wash your hands WITH soap… I make sure I get really scent filled (but hypoallergenic) anti-bacterial soap so there's no fooling me 😉 .

Love your blog! So glad I found it recently!

  12. What a great idea for a party! I'm going to try it for a playdate this week.

We try to get outside every day, even if it's cold out. I think the fresh air and sunshine keep us healthy!

  13. I usually get a flu shot and just try to get enough rest. The days can get so busy once the holidays hit, that I've always felt like it's so important to get lots of sleep. Thanks for the chance to win!

  14. Umm, is that possible? This season is the worst for us as a family. Parties with community food make that really hard. We are a household with 3 kindergarteners so little fingers and hands spread germs like crazy. I have three rules, wash hands, eat what you touch and NO DOUBLE DIPPING!!

  15. We stay healthy by exercising, eating a lot of pomegranates, and drinking a honeybee apple delight daily (it is a cup of warm water, a heaping teaspoon of raw honey, and 2 tsp Braggs cider vinegar).

  16. Wash our hands with soap and warm water all the time .. everytime we come home from somewhere, before we eat .. at all time. And take plenty of vit c and go outside (bundle up in the cool weather). Thanks for the chance.

I stay healthy during the holidays by going to the gym first thing in the mornings and by eating a healthy and filling snack BEFORE going to holiday parties so I don't gorge on holiday treats.

  22. We wash our hands frequently, sanitize carts before touching and always use paper towels to touch door knobs in public places. I also sanitize my children's hands before eating or touching their faces when out. We also take vitamins to try to maintain health.

  23. We stay healthy by making sure to keep moving, and eating healthy foods. Thanks for the giveaway!
