We are so excited to share our latest “unplug and build” activity this time with Estes! If you aren’t familiar with them Estes makes model rockets. And let us tell you – they are awesome! We have never built and launched a real rocket with the boys so they were definitely itching to get started!
As you know, we’ve been working at finding fun things to do with the kids that don’t involve tv, computer, video games etc. Building things like this gives us time to really interact and talk to them while doing something with our hands.
They picked out the Sky Twister Launch Set
and got straight to work building it with Dad. He had never built one before so it was a first for him too!
Once we tested the launcher the boys were ready to launch! After we had to discuss why we could NOT launch the rocket in the house we loaded up into the truck and out to the desert complete with wild burros.
The boys weren’t quite sure what to expect since they had never launched a rocket before!
Ready to go…
SO cool! I have no idea why it’s so fun to see it launch but trust me it is, and the boys thought it was even cooler. We definitely had to do it again!
I was happy that it worked perfectly the first (and second) time. We had no issues which made it even better. Again, we weren’t quite sure what to expect!
5, 4, 3, 2, 1…
If you’ve never built a rocket before defintiely add it to your “unplug and build” list – make a whole day out of it! The boys love going out into the desert and just exploring now we’ll have to bring a rocket with us each time too!
Estes has a big selection of model rockets for all skill levels. Look for them next time you’re at your local hoppy shop, Hobby Lobby and Michaels stores, or Walmart and Target.
How about a giveaway?! I’m so excited to be hosting this giveaway so that 2 of you can build and launch a rocket as well!
Estes is extending this fun to TWO of you! Yes there will be TWO winners!
Each winner will receive a $50 Hobby Lobby gift card and an Estes Launch Set of your choice!
