Make your own Adventure Kit - fun gift idea too! from All for the Boys blog

Sometimes all a child needs is a bit of direction to kick off imaginative play! I love making little kits to inspire playtime (and learning). Just like you may love a store for their packaging or wrapping – kids love items presented to them in new and unique ways like a kit.

Here are some items you could pull together for an Adventure Kit:

  • Notebook for field notes (or to collect clues)
  • Pencil
  • Labels
  • Notebook and crayon for leaf or texture rubbing
  • Flashlight
  • Magnifying Glass
  • Small containers for treasures
  • Net

This is a great time of year to stock up on bug nets, houses, magnifying glasses etc in the dollar section of Target, Walmart or even the Dollar Store. Grab some items next time you’re there and put it away for when you need it!

It also makes a great gift just add an inexpensive drawstring bag or backpack!
