Sedona AZWe recently made a short drive up to Sedona, AZ for a little staycation and family time. I always love road trips because it’s so easy to throw everything in the car (we recently bought an SUV for the first time so loving that!) and go!

Sedona, AZIt takes about an hour and a half to drive from our house in Phoenix to Sedona. We were invited to stay and try out the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa.

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaObviously there is no lack of beautiful scenery here. We loved that we could see red rocks from many angles when we pulled up.  I have to say I’m not easily impressed with hotel lobbies for the most part, but the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa lobby is absolutely gorgeous and totally my style.

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaThe boys are always itching to check out the pool but we took all our bags up to the room first.

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaThe room was comfortable and cozy with plenty of room, a gas fireplace and little patio.

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaWe hadn’t eaten yet so we headed down to the Grille at Shadow Rock which is just off the lobby area. The best part about driving up to Sedona are the gorgeous temps.

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaThe resort is super dog friendly so we were excited to have Oliver (the dog) next to us at dinner. When you’re in Sedona you definitely want to be outside. It’s so beautiful and the weather was gorgeous so the boys definitely wanted to explore.

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaEvery once in a while on vacation I’ll treat myself so the next morning I had the pleasure of going to the Eforea spa and got the Full Circle Treatment. It was amazing and adjusted/perfected just for me. You get to choose your oil scent and I chose the scent that was good for immune system without knowing (I have an auto-immune disorder so I thought that was really interesting!). There was hot rocks (amazing if you’ve never done it), deep tissue massage, hand, foot and just an all around wonderful experience. The spa is beautiful and relaxing and really a great way to start a day in Sedona (leave yourself time to enjoy the other spa amenities as well)!

Hilton Sedona Resort & SpaSince we have done hiking in Sedona before (there are lots of great trails for kids) the boys really wanted to check out some water. Oak Creek was closed due to recent fires and flash flood potential so a local sent us to nearby Wet Beaver Creek. We had forgotten to renew the boys’ fishing license so Jared was able to do it in the lobby area at the Hilton where printers are available.

Beaver CreekThe sound of the water and the cool shade makes for such a great afternoon!

That evening we headed to Blazin’ M Ranch a little frontier town with dinner and a show. There was games, a shooting gallery, roping, BBQ dinner (most of which was gluten free for me and my oldest) and country music with a bit of comedy mixed in.

We had so much fun

I’ve met so many people who live in Phoenix that have never been to Sedona so if that’s you – go! Especially while it’s still hot down here! It’s also a great place to come vacation and the drive into Phoenix or up into Flagstaff or the Grand Canyon is easy as well! For their current specials and info you can check out the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa online / Facebook / Twitter.
