This isn’t a deep post, just a reminder of something that’s been on my mind. So many of us are in different stages of life. I have friends just starting out the journey to motherhood, some trying and others grandparenthood. I just wanted to remind you – enjoy all the stages as they come.
The first thing people tend to tell you is how fast parenthood goes by. I find myself peeking at baby photos and videos and longing for just one more of those days, but you know what? These days are pretty darn good too.
I have loved each and every stage so far for very different reasons and while I have had fleeting moments of wishing they were babies again, I want to try hard and enjoy each new stage that much more. My boys are at such an amazing stage right now where they’re getting so independent. Soon I will be able to see what types of adults they will make and my husband and I will be in a whole new place in life.
I love this stage because we have intelligent conversations about education, life, food, health, history, religion, politics… It’s amazing what comes out of their minds sometimes. They can clean themselves, feed themselves, buckle themselves in…
Of course there are downsides to each stage too, but I just wanted to encourage you to enjoy the stage you’re in. Don’t be sad when it’s over (by all means take lots of photos and video) but enjoy the movement, the change and the new experiences this stage is bringing.
Parenthood is a hard, disgusting, thankless, expensive, incredibly rewarding job that is constantly evolving. I have a feeling I haven’t even gotten into the hardest part, but when I do I’m going to look for things to enjoy in that stage too.
What’s the best thing about the stage your kids are in?
