We LOVE a good movie night party and the boys couldn’t wait for Big Hero 6 to be released (they’ve been waiting since we saw it in theaters) so we had planned a movie night the weekend after it was released.

Big Hero 6 Movie Night Party

This was one movie night the boys were excited to share with some family and friends because they LOVE Big Hero 6! We had grandparents in town so had them come over along with cousins and friends. We decided to keep the decor fairly simple since we had such a mix of ages. I made a San Fransokyo skyline (well, my version of it) on a display board with chalk as the snack table background.

As cute as the toys were that we picked up from Walmart.com, the Baymax cups stole the show! We had a mix of vanilla shakes and milk for the cookies.

Big Hero 6 Movie Night PartyVanilla shakes are my boys’ favorite and are simply vanilla ice cream (Breyers Natural Vanilla) and whole milk. A treat for sure, but SO good. The cups were used throughout the night for drinks and snacks too! To make them I used stemless wine glasses (I loved the shape) and created a simple cut file and cut the eyes out on my Silhouette machine with vinyl. The shape is so simple though that you could create a template and just cut them out by hand!

Along with the movie, we played some Disney Infinity with our new Baymax and Hiro figures, played with some Baymax balloons and even made some real recycled bots!

Big Hero 6 Movie Night PartyI pulled out the motors from some inexpensive electric toothbrushes and the boys attached some battery holders. We hot glued the motors to a piece of cardboard and then directly on a scrub brush. For the best movement put the motor as far off the edge of the brush as you can. The battery holder was attached as well.

Big Hero 6 Movie Night PartyI just left out all kinds of supplies (new and recycled) for the boys to design their bots.

Big Hero 6 Movie Night PartyI think next time I’ll add a variety of battery sizes so they can choose which one works the best for them!

Big Hero 6 Movie Night PartyYou can see the bots in action on our Instagram video! Here are a few of the finished bots:

For Baymax balloons I made the same type of eyes as the cups, only bigger. Then, inside the balloons I stuck a red glow stick so that in the dark the balloons looked like Baymax did when he was warming up in the movie!

Big Hero 6 Movie Night PartyWe all had so much fun! If you are going to pick up the DVD we love the Big Hero 6 Blu-Ray/DVD + Gift With Purchase Set because it includes a digital movie on Vudu while supplies last! Simply scan your receipt using the Savings Catcher in the Walmart app. Then look for a message on your phone or email. Now you can watch Big Hero 6 on any device!

Those robots are just the coolest thing ever for the tween boys who can be so hard to satisfy. It looks like everyone really had a great time- now I need to make some of those Baymax glasses! #client

    • They did! I love how we had such a wide range of ages but everyone loved the afternoon! The boys were definitely into the robots. They kept “upgrading” them throughout the evening 😉

  2. So much fun! We had a family movie night the night it came out, my kids had so much fun. We decorated a bit and had a themed dinner 🙂

  3. I love the skyline backdrop. Will you share how you created that please? Great party!
