GETTING STARTED WITH BRIDGEWAY ACADEMY

*Disclosure – we received a discount to Bridgeway in exchange for sharing our experience here on the blog. However, all opinions are our own.

My family started our journey into homeschooling last year. We did our own schedule and chose all kinds of curriculum, but this year we were looking for something a little different. I am lucky enough to have partnered with Bridgeway Academy so that we can share our experience with you throughout the year.

There are so many ways to homeschool along with all sorts of curriculum options. One thing that really drew me to Bridgeway was that they do all of the research for you. They actually recommend curriculum based on each child’s (and family’s) needs. So how did we get starting with Bridgeway? It involved a lot of just checking out their website.

The first step to getting started was making the decision that this is how we wanted to homeschool this year. I really liked that they are fully accredited along with all the customizable options to make it work well for both of my boys. I have one boy doing all of his curriculum online and another through books with some online components. They both learn differently so this was a huge bonus for me to be able to do 2 different types of homeschooling without having to map out 2 separate schedules all by myself. We want to travel and experience more not spend all our time creating curriculum schedules!

I looked at the difference between their Textbook Programs, the 100% Online Homeschool Programs and the Total Care Programs for each of those. I talked with the boys and my husband on what choices we had and what everyone’s expectations were. I tried really hard to include everyone in the decision making to really make schooling feel like it was something that everyone chose.

Once we made that decision and made our payment we were assigned to an advisor who walked us through every step to get us going. It was really great to have that personal service and someone who I can email or call with any questions I might have. Kristin (our advisor) sent me academic placement tests and learning style assessments which allowed her to tailor the best curriculum program for each boy. Once we made our final curriculum decisions we were sent all our curriculum to get our school year started! Kristin has been amazing the last month as we got used to our new schedules and she’s there whenever we need her for questions throughout the year.

As I mentioned, I loved that they had fully accredited grade reporting. That mixed with unlimited support of an academic advisor and the customizable curriculum (for each boy) convinced me to give it a shot.  If you’re curious about all the reason we chose to go with Bridgeway (and homeschooling in general) I wrote a whole page on that decision that you can check out here or by clicking on our little photo in the sidebar!
