Last year I did a fun experiment with the boys to show them how the P&G Purifier of Water packets work. It was such a great way to have a little fun while opening up a conversation about the 663 million people that lack access to an improved water source (According to World Health Organization (WHO)/UNICEF (2014)) and the fact that 1,000 children are dying each day due to diseases caused by contaminated drinking water (WHO 2015). We have never had to think about where our water would come from next so talking about this with them is so important to me.

P&G Safe Water Science

These packets are honestly a miracle. One tiny packet can clean enough water for a family of 5 for 1 day and uses readily available household implements—a bucket, stir stick, and a filter cloth. It’s one thing to talk about how it works but to be able to see it for yourself is even better!

You can P&G Purifier of Water packets for a super simple (but really awesome) science project you can do with your kids at home. This would be perfect for a spring break activity!
