One of the questions that family, friends and readers ask the most about Disneyland trips is, “If I don’t stay on property, where is a good place to stay?”. I’ve been researching properties and have even stayed at a few (that said they were within walking distance but they weren’t in my book). One that was on my radar was the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Anaheim Resort area There is another Holiday Inn in the area, this one is at 1411 S Manchester Avenue, Anaheim, California 92802. They recently hosted us to check out their property and all four of us were impressed.
First of all, if you’re visiting Disneyland and you look at google maps, just because a property is close to Disneyland or California Adventure, doesn’t mean it’s going to be within walking distance. It’s hard to tell where the pedestrian entrances are from the map! The Holiday Inn Express & Suites is about a 10-15 minute walk depending on your speed. You only have to cross Harbor Blvd to get into the Disneyland Resort area! We found it very convenient and a great location.
When we walked in to check in, the boys commented on how they liked the lobby. There is plenty of room to sit and always had a movie playing for the kids. Behind that main wall is plenty of seating options for the free breakfast every morning (a huge money saving bonus).
From the moment we checked in, to each time we walked in and out or passed staff in the hall, we felt welcomed and truly taken care of. Sometimes customer service is good and sometimes it’s excellent. Theirs was excellent from our experience. You can tell that they value their customers and want you to know it! I tried to pay attention to other visitors and their interaction and everyone seemed to be met with the same greeting, smile and willingness to help anyway they could.
Their rooms are comfortable and very reasonably priced for the area. Even a “Penthouse Suite” like the one we stayed in was a very decent price and such a perfect upgrade for a family with bigger kids like mine.
There was plenty of room to stretch out and I love how a lot of the furniture was versatile. It made staying a few nights super comfortable for all of us. As a huge added bonus, the gorgeous windows had a perfect view of the fireworks!
The beds were comfortable, the pillows extra comfy and bathrooms were clean and spacious. They do offer cribs (I saw one being taken to a room on my way down to the lobby), have a splash pad and heated pool for the kids and offer free wifi. I even ended up sitting in the lobby to work for a bit while the boys watched a movie before we left.
*Tip: Check the breakfast time for your stay. They clean up right at the ending time so give yourself plenty of room to get down to grab some food!
Here are my top 5 reasons to stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Anaheim Resort area:
- Walking Distance to Disneyland
- Free Hot Continental Breakfast
- Use of Space in the Rooms
- Reasonable Price to Upgrade to a Suite
I would definitely recommend (and already have to friends) checking out the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Anaheim Resort Area for your next Disney trip! I wouldn’t hesitate to book a stay for our next trip.
