SOME FAVORITE BOOK SERIES

We LOVE books around here. We have books galore and have since hte boys were little. I was read to since I was a baby and I guess it stuck because I read to the boys very early on as well.

I was going to organize our recommendations by age but then I realized I have no idea what ages are good for some of these books so I’ll just talk about some of our favorites.

My little one is reading an Elephant and Piggie book by Mo Willems. We LOVE Mo Willems. I think A Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog was the first book my son could “read” (he had the thing memorized along with the WAY I read it). Any of his books are SO fun to read. The Pigeon series, Elephant and Piggie series, Knuffle Bunny, Naked Mole Rat etc. I like to give any of these books to new moms because I think that ANY Mo Willems book is a must have in any kids’ library.

We also like the Skippy Jon Jones series

Fun songs AND you get to read it in a Spanish accent!

My 6 year old loves reading any book from the Froggy series

I don’t like how Froggy always answers “Whaaaat” I think it’s rude but he likes the books and it helps him read and he hasn’t responded to me like that yet so we’ll let it slide 😉 He also likes Lego readers, Star Wars readers etc.

My 8 year old likes Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Geronimo Stilton, Harry Potter, ANY World Record book, prank books, joke books, and he loves encyclopedia type books.

I know I’m forgetting a few of their favorites, but these ones I know for sure. What are some of your/your kids’ favorite series?

  1. Those are some of my 8 year old's favorite books for sure! The other day, he told me when he grows up he's going to get a siamese cat and name him Skipppyjpn Jones. 😉

  2. "The Magic Treehouse" series has always been a favorite with my boys. Also, 'The Narnia Chronicles' and other classics like 'Treasure Island' and 'Swiss Family Robinson'. My little guys like the 'Fly Guy' series. It's good for new readers.

  3. My 9 yr old loved the Percy Jackson series, Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing series(the chapter that talks about Santa Claus just happened to be ripped out when he read it – trust me, do the same), and Star Wars books (any kind).

I just finished reading the Indian and the Cupboard to my 6 yr old and he loved it. We rented the movie after which was fun.
