COLLECTIONS

One thing that is true for both my boys is that they love to hoard little things. Little plastic horses or animals, Lego mini figs, Playmobil guys with all their little accessories. Ever since I allowed them to play with little things without fear of them swallowing them (although I’ll find my almost 7 year old with something in his mouth occasionally what’s up with that?) they loved collecting them.

I’m sure you can relate to finding who knows what in the washer or dryer if you forgot to shake out little boy jeans before putting them in!

One of my boys thought that he needed to collect something so he decided to collect rocks. Problem was they weren’t pretty little rocks, they were fairly large regular landscaping rocks. I decided to record this little collection of his no matter how silly I thought it was. I think he’ll like to look back and laugh at it someday. I know I will!

Do you have a collector in your house? Have you recorded their collection yet?

  1. My middle boy is a huge collector. I have to purge his room every few months. He loves to find treasures and keep them saying, "but mom, I might need this to make something!" I love it. We have jars in his room too…and baskets…and boxes.

  2. What is it about rocks? Is it because they are always around? Bella found a pressed brick on the beach and kept it. It's about 3×5 in size and just hanging out on her dresser.

  3. This makes me laugh. My 6 year old brings home things everyday from school – rocks, beads, leaves, string from his friends' shorts- I'm slightly worried he will end up on the hoarders tv show – I keep them on the counter for a few days and toss them when he forgets about them.
