Make a mess meteor crater! When we went on our last camping trip we thought about stopping at the meteor crater. It was a little bit farther than we were wanting to go on our quick weekend so we’ll have to go another time.

Last week we had the rare opportunity to see a good size meteor shoot across the sky right in front of our eyes for a good 5-6 seconds. It was an amazing site!

We’ve had talks about them here and there, and my 8 year old has read about it in some of his books so I thought it would be fun to make some craters ourselves.

We found some meteors of different sizes.

Then we filled a bowl with some flour and flattened it out. This is the land on earth.

If wheat flour/gluten is a problem in your house, tapioca starch is a good alternative as is any other type of flour. Or do it outside with soft dirt!
