Folgers asked us to share their new Jingle Contest with you and share how coffee and music play a role in our mornings. (are you already singing? “The best part of waking up…”)
Let’s start with the fact that 2 of us are sort of morning people and 2 of us blondes (who shall remain nameless) are not. At all.
In the last few years I’ve become a coffee person. Not just a coffee person, a black coffee person. No sugar, nor cream, no milk – just coffee. And I love it. It’s just not morning without a cup of coffee in a favorite mug. During the school week coffee is brewing while we get everything going. Lunches, paper signing (which we should do the night before but we don’t) going over the calendar for the day, making sure everyone has brushed teeth and has clean underwear.
As we rush out the door I likely haven’t had a sip of coffee yet so it gets transferred to my favorite travel coffee mug and off we go (after making sure everyone has 2 shoes ON and their backpacks and lunch boxes and yes there is a reason I have to check all of these things).
Now I’m sure you’ve all been there. No one likes being rushed or hurried out the door, or their brother breathing on them, or their brother looking out their window… So we started the best routine ever.
Car DJ’s
The boys get to take turns being the car DJ and choose their favorite tunes all the way to school. Dancing and singing to our favorite songs definitely puts us in a great mood for the day (the coffee doesn’t hurt either) and we have come to love our new tradition. Try being mad when your mom is in the front seat making a fool over herself singing and “dancing” to the latest hits. It’s impossible.
Coffee + Music = a successful morning in our house!
Music plays a huge roll in our lives. We love music and I don’t think there is a day that goes by that we don’t listen to it. Folgers thinks it’s pretty important too and they are celebrating and encouraging music creativity with their Jingle Contest!

I love your ritual. There is nothing better than everyone singing at the top of their lungs on a car trip and even if it is just the five minutes it make take to drive my kids to school on a rainy day, it gets everyone in a great mood.
