Tween Boy Room Reveal with Glidden

I am so excited to share the final painted room “after” we chose some new colors using Glidden paint My Image Inspiration. In our first post we shared some images that we were leaning towards for color inspiration. Here’s the image we chose.

My son is into cars and this photo was taken on a recent trip to Disneyland, which he also loves, so it was a great mix of both. We decided to do something different with the paint in his room so we went with 2 colors: Onyx Black and Pebble Gray.

We purchased the Glidden High Endurance Plus™  from Walmart, which is a paint and primer in one (Glidden paint can also be purchased at Home Depot and other fine retailers). Let me tell you, I’ve painted SO many rooms in my time (mostly because I don’t like the color when it’s all said and done). In fact I just painted this entire house last year. This paint is AWESOME. It went on the wall so well and the colors came out perfect!

We wanted a gray for his room initially but the color I brought home ended up pretty blue (fine, but not what we wanted). Both the Pebble Gray and Onyx Black from Glidden came out perfectly. I seriously could not believe how well the paint covered – especially the black being such a dark color going on a light wall!. It was such a relief to be able to easily choose colors from Glidden’s simplified palette and feel confident that it would look great. If you’ve ever looked for a light gray color you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about. There are thousands of different grays all with different undertones and some that barely look any different. Choosing a color can be completely overwhelming! I was really impressed with how Glidden paint made it so easy for us!

For his room I painted the Pebble Gray first (2 coats) and allowed to dry for a day or so. Using a laser level I marked my line on the wall and used painters tape to create a straight line. The black went on last and once the painters tape was removed a fun 2 tone wall effect was created.

Doesn’t it make SUCH a difference?! I’m so glad we took on this project and my son is even happier with it! We have a few more little projects for the room but I’m glad the painting was a success!

  1. I really want to redo my youngest son's room. His is the last room we haven't finished and there is yellow highlighter all over the dingy white walls. I have tons of ideas, just not much budget.

I would love to paint several rooms in my home. Bit the number one room we would like to paint is the hot pink room. We have 4 boys and needless to say no one wants to sleep in the pink room until its changed to a more friendly color!

  3. we just moved and our walls are like butter (everything that touches them leaves a dent!) so we need to paint the entire house.

  4. Would love to repaint our only bathroom. In fact I picked up some Glidden paint chips today!!

  5. Your boy's room looks really nice. I love that you have time to blog all of the many things you do and then are sponsored for it. Thanks for sharing.

  6. My son's room needs a facelift for sure! He still has too many of his baby pieces hanging around — like a border that could definitely be changed up and painted!

  7. We're moving so just painted our whole new house or are in the process. I just did my sons room in pebble gray love it! All that is left for us to paint is the bathrooms and kitchen so glad to almost be done!

  8. I would love to paint and redo my boys bedroom. 4 boys share a room and its not currently efficiently organized or working for us

  9. We are moving into our first home in a few weeks. The room that will be my 2-year-old son's has one aqua wall and one purple wall. I'm thinking of painting the walls a medium gray, just like in our rental house, because it created a cozy, library feel. Whether I do that or not…gotta buy some paint!

  10. My son has that same duvet cover and shams in his bedroom. Love it! I would love to redo our laundry room. Small room so would like it to have tons of character.

  11. I'd love to paint my kids room! We are about to move all three of our kids into one room to make way for baby #4. It would be fun to give the room a whole new feel. Your "after" is awesome.

His room turned out great! We're getting ready to redo both of our boys' rooms & have been trying to figure out which direction to go with paint. I love his headboard too!

  13. Most of my "new to us" house is still need of painting after almost a year here. Next on my list is the kitchen. Thanks for a chance to win the $100 giftcard.

Loving your son's new room. The headboard is super cool and the photo with the top of Kona's head made me grin. Glad to see you had a supervisor. 😉

  14. This sounds weird, but I'd love to paint and decorate my laundry room! A makeover to love that room would be awesome!

  15. There are many rooms in my home I want to paint! We moved in last week and I have just started to look at colors, its a fun process.

  16. We just moved into a rental house and there is so much I would like to do to EVERY room! I think I would start in the dining room though, since it has old paneling and could really use some transforming. Thank you for a great giveaway!!! Your son's room looks awesome!!!

  17. Such a grown up room! I particularly like the steel storage drawers as they really add to the aesthetic. I'm looking to change my not-a-baby-anymore's room

  18. So many rooms need a face lift. I would start with my daughter's bedroom and make it more girly for her.

  19. I hate painting itself, because I feel like I always mess up my walls. Still, fresh new color can make such a difference! Do you have any tips on the actual process of painting? I have textured walls that look similar to these, and sometimes they can be a bear to cover well and make a crisp line. I have tried all kinds of paint (from inexpensive to no-drip, fool-proof, designer quality), brushes, rollers, edgers, tape, etc. My 4 year old son's room is still the same color we had when we built our house 7 years ago, and it needs to be redone! Thank you!

  20. We have painted both the kids' rooms… I think it's finally our turn!

  21. I'd love to repaint my bedroom. I just finished my sons room and still have the painting bug. Our bedroom is in dire need of some freshening up.

I would love to paint a wall in our living room. Something bright that would pop or bring out colors in our furniture/carpet. Then the other walls would be a more neutral color.

  23. I would like to paint my son's room and get the aviation theme going in it

  24. We want to paint our son's room, too. This would def come in handy! Please pick us. 🙂

  25. First, I love the way the flat paint looks! Great job 🙂 I would love to paint (and repaint) a few rooms in my house. My kitchen is still the pain ole white from dry wall, gasp! I would also love to redo my hallway and my husbands office.

  27. We just moved and our entire house is white! White walls, white carpet, white cabinets. I'd start painting my boys' rooms first.

  28. We need to paint our toy room. It is in need of both paint, furniture and organization, to name a few!!

My twins are turning 10 this year and we are going to redecorate their rooms. They are growing up so fast and want "cool" rooms. New paint colors are first on our list!

  30. I would love to repaint my living room and hallway. It really needs a facelift!!

  31. Our master bathroom …. but I love the colors of this room that now I want to do the same to our son's room 🙂 Thanks for sharing and the change to win the GC.
