As a mom of boys entering their teen years I’m starting to get asked for advice on mobile devices for teens and families in general. Obviously we all have different needs but the big thing for younger kids is the ability to keep in touch with family/friends and use their favorite apps. As a mom (among lots of other things) budget is also a concern. The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is an “unlocked” phone meaning you can use it without a contract on the carrier of your choice as well as pre-paid networks (which is great for kids who are paying for their own) this way there aren’t “overage” charges.
Even families who don’t have kids with phones, there are more homes with an extra because they no longer have a home phone like us. We need something to leave at the house if people are staying over!
It’s no secret that I LOVE photos so the boys instantly wanted to play with the “groufie” mode where you can take a wide “selfie” shot to fit more of the background (or more friends) in the shot.
The best part of this phone? It has largest screen of any smart phone, 6.1″ HD screen and longest battery life, 2.5 days (60 hours) on a single charge. My family never remembers to charge devices so this is huge for us.
I lost track of everything we did on one battery charge but it was A LOT. The boys played with their favorite apps and we took lots of photos.
I used it for all my social media and emails as well as a few calls here and there. It really did last almost all of the weekend which is unheard of in this house!
It’s always fun for me to pick up our extra “house” phone and see the photos and video on it. It’s a fun documentation of our day as well as a way for the boys’ friends to keep in touch with them without calling myself or my husband.
We did all kinds of things our first weekend with the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 and have definitely gotten used to having it around! From reading, working and playing we have all found uses for our extra home phone and now probably wouldn’t know what to do without it!
