I don’t know about you but anytime I can get my kids off the electronics and interacting with me or each other I’ll jump at the chance. We try hard to encourage real interaction with friends, each other and us and board games is one of our favorite ways to do that. You can do it outside, inside, at dinner, on the go…
We’ve featured some awesome games from Thinkfun before so when they asked if we’d like to review some new ones we absolutely agreed! I know lots of you are looking for new games and ideas for your kids just like I am. Rush Hour has been a pretty popular game for a while and this year Thinkfun is bringing a new twist to the table with Rush Hour Shift.
The plates can actually move to add another level of challenge to the game. It’s 2 player (which I love because they won’t ask me to play if they are playing each other. Hey, I’m just being honest) and geared toward ages 8 and up.
It’s definitely become one of our “go to” favorites. Everyone likes playing it, it doesn’t have a ton of parts and it gets your mind going. There are no electronic parts and it’s just plain fun. Over time the boys have started to figure out that they need to decide whether they need to advance their car or use their turn to block each other (or me or Dad). We all definitely recommend Rush Hour Shift if you’re looking to add a new game to your collection. I think this one is getting added to our “travel game” stash too. While it’s not advertised as a travel game, for older kids the cars stay put if you have enough room and a tray in the car OR you can pack it along to play in the hotel/on the beach like we do!
