We traveled out to Southern California for a quick trip a week or so ago and got to check something off our list we’ve always wanted to do – see a show at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood!
You’ll have to forgive me for lack of photos, we didn’t give ourselves enough travel time (LA traffic) so definitely give yourself plenty of time to enjoy this amazing theater when you go! Right now Inside Out is showing and part of the fun of seeing a show at El Capitan is that they often include exclusive specials before the show. Right now they are featuring an AMAZING stage show “Music of Light” from 3D Live, which is choreographed by Dave Scott (“So You Think You Can Dance”). In the show, live dancers interact and dance among a 3D background from an LED screen. It really is the coolest experience and the perfect start to seeing Inside Out.
The dancers were incredible and it really looked like they were interacting with the digital background. We loved the music, the dancers and the effects. It was so much more than I expected!
My 12 year old was psyched to see Inside Out at El Capitan in Dolby Vision™ and Dolby Atmos™. With extended dynamic range 4k laser projection and sound that moves around the theater – it really is such a different experience than we’re used to. We loved it! We can’t wait to see more films and special stage shows here.
Make a day out of it and check out the Disney Studio Store and Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop next door (they even have special Disney pins that you get with certain ice cream treats)!
Inside Out and the incredible stage show “Music of Light” will be showing through August 19th, 2015. Daily showtimes are 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and a 9:55 p.m. screening on Fridays and Saturdays.
