The Best Summer Moments Aren’t Planned is part of a sponsored post with Minute Maid through Socialstars. #doingood
We are all looking for ways to make our kids’ summer fun. Sometimes we have time to craft or experiment with them, and other times we’re just happy to make it through the day right?!
Whatever you’re doing, I’m sure you’re #doingood! Think back on your childhood and your favorite summer memories. Some of them might be vacations or activities with your parents or grandparents, but I’ll bet you have quite a few great memories that weren’t planned ahead of time am I right?
I’ve been trying to incorporate a lot more unstructured and unplanned play time for my boys for the last few years. Times to just “go outside and play”. I’ll admit that at first they played the “I’m bored” card but they quickly learned how to make up games, explore and solve problems.
We traveled up north a bit this last weekend to get out of the summer desert heat and as I watched the boys find bugs, rocks and sticks, explore holes and caves and swim in the creek, I realized that THESE are going to be some of their best summer moments.
We went up for Dad and the boys to fish, but they were more interested in exploring and that was totally ok. They took some photos of what they saw, climbed, fell and got dirty. They swam and played adventurers or explorers. They made memories.
I didn’t plan out activities or learning moments, I just let them play and in that play they actually learned a ton (whether they know it or not). They tried to move a giant tree that had fallen into the creek, and while they didn’t figure it out, they did learn some lessons that I bet will stick with them forever.
I’ve been down the last month with my auto-immune disorder and didn’t get to do quite a bit of the fun things I had planned this summer. You know what though, that’s life and that’s ok! If you’re over summer or crazy busy you can make the best summer moments without planning ahead of time. Whether you take an impromptu trip to a fun outdoor spot for the day like us or just make some frozen grapes or fun popsicles like Hey Kayli, you’re bound to make some summer memories! Share this video with a friend who needs some summer fun inspiration and join me on social media to thank the parents who need to hear it
Whether you know someone who has planned out and had the most epic summer or someone who is completely over the heat and “I’m bored” moments, let them know they’re #doingood on social media with me and Minute Maid. I’ll bet it will put a huge smile on their face!
