How do you write about an experience you’ve been dreaming up forever? I don’t know but I’m going to try! First of all thank you for helping us have this adventure, we wouldn’t have gotten to do any of this without you, GoRVing.com and of course Chance’s friends!

We had our plan all ready to go as soon as we found out we were going to get to turn our plan into reality. We set up our RV rental with Sand Highway RV (who I now can say I very much recommend if you’re in the Phoenix area). We found them on GoRVing.com. They reserved us the perfect RV and all that was left for us to do was reserve some campsites, shop and be on our way!

The dogs weren’t too sure what they thought about the RV at first, but they loved being able to be with us from the start. They were very curious about everything. The boys of course thought that the addition of a generator was genius and loved the tv’s.

We had plenty of room for all the food I had planned to bring for meals and we just brought a large ice chest for extra drinks and waters. The fridge and cupboards in the RV held the rest! It was funny to “pack” without really packing because you just put your clothes in the RV like you would in a room (drawers and closets). We found a spot for everything, which I loved. The only “extra” thing I did to the RV was lay a sheet over the bench because I knew the dogs would want to be close to me and the boys. We do this in the car too. I also brought some of my own linens to make it feel like home!

The first part of our trip took us to O’neill Regional Park in Orange County. I was happy with our set up because it gave the dogs (and us) much more room than the original beach camp spot I was thinking of. We stayed here for 2 nights so that on Saturday we could meet up with Chance’s rescuers in Hollywood, CA. This was such an awesome experience because Chance TOTALLY remembered Eldad and was just as excited to see Cadence again. Dogs continuously amaze me!

We also got to visit with the boys’ great grandparents for a bit at our campsite.

From here we headed up the coast to Solvang, CA which turned out to be very dog friendly. My 11 year old is very “into” European architecture right now so this was right up his alley. It is such a cute town with lots to see!

From Solvang we drove to Big Sur, which has the most amazing views. Ocean and pine trees?! What more could you want? I was so glad we stopped to look at this spot because we saw whales (maybe even blue whales there were some spotted here but I wouldn’t know for sure) and elephant seals!

This Pfeiffer Big Sur campsite is GORGEOUS. My one regret from this trip was not staying here longer. A reason to come back I guess! Great hiking trails and they even had redwoods!

After Big Sur we took another incredible drive through Yosemite National Park to Mammoth Lakes, CA. My husband camped here MANY times as a kid and couldn’t wait to take us all.

This trip was sort of like or usual camping trips but SO much more comfortable (and easier) in the RV. We camped at Twin Lakes Campground and loved this spot.

The Mammoth Lakes area has so much to see, so we tried to do a good mix of just hanging around the campsite and fitting in all the sights.

We stayed here for 4 nights and this was really the most relaxing part of our trip. Lots of card playing, reading and bike riding.

After Mammoth we were going to stay in Big Bear, CA but they were battling wildfires in the area and since we were only staying one night, we didn’t want to get in the way so we decided to head back to the beach and see my mom for the night.

The next day we drove back to Phoenix but took a little detour to check out the Salton Sea (which is crazy huge) and Salvation Mountain.

Coming home was bittersweet and returning the RV to Sand Highway RV was just bitter 😉 We are completely hooked on Go RVing and their Facebook posts don’t help at all with my wanderlust. I truly feel blessed to have had this experience and we’ll definitely be Go RVing again and again!

You can follow Go RVing on their Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube if you’re ready for your own travel inspiration.

I’m thinking we’ll head East next time, where should we visit?
