Robotics + a fun prank? Count us in! Have you heard of Tinker Crate? They teamed with FamilyFun for this exclusive (and super awesome) tinker kit for ages 9-16 where you create your own motion sensor spider!

The kit comes with everything you need to wire up a circuit, create a spider and put it all together for a fun prank perfect for Halloween! The kit even comes with a FamilyFun mini magazine with more Halloween ideas, but really this kit (and the ideas in the magazine) would be great even after Halloween!

We got a kit to try out ourselves and it worked great! My boys were able to do it all on their own, but the younger age range (9-11 or so) may need a bit of help. I think it is the perfect mix of challenge and fun to keep them busy!

I love how they combined wiring, crafts and a bit of robotics into one fun kit that they can keep using even after they’re done!

We attached ours right above the bathroom door so that people walking down the hallway would get a bit of a surprise when a spider came down right in front of them! The boys thought it was pretty cool how the motion sensor works!

You could even change up the spider on it if you wanted to!

Here’s a cute video so you can see the spider in action:

You can purchase this single kit on it’s own at http://tinkercrate.com/familyfun and use code FAMILYFUN for 20% off! Such a great project to work on next week or even sometime during the holidays when you’re stuck inside!

Disclosure: We were sent a set to try out but were not compensated for our opinions or to post. We just thought you’d really like it too!
