What’s Your #RedKettleReason? (Plus $100 Sweepstakes)

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. Please see policies for more information.

I LOVE the holidays. It has always been such a magical and loving time of year for me, but also a time that makes me realize, more than ever, how much we have been blessed with. This time of year it really starts to weigh on my heart to come up with different ways to give back and help others. The Salvation Army has always had a big local presence during the holidays and this year they are doing a video contest encouraging people to share their #RedKettleReason for a chance to win a shopping spree for kids in need. First, here’s my #RedKettleReason:   Allison Waken from All for the Boys

So are you ready to share your #RedKettleReason? The Salvation Army is calling Americans to share their #RedKettleReason for a chance to win a closed to the public, all expenses paid Salvation Army Giving Spree benefitting their local Salvation Army children’s shelter or children’s program.

Here’s what you have to do – Upload your video to Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, or Vimeo and then tweet a link to your video using both the #RedKettleReason and #GivingSpreeSweeps hashtags. In addition to sharing why the spirit of giving is so important to you, try to describe why your particular community deserves to win. If you have a personal connection to The Salvation Army, such as having been helped or knowing someone who’s been helped in the past, talk about that!

The Salvation Army Giving Spree finalists will be announced on December 1, 2015, Giving Tuesday and will be featured on RedKettleReason.org for voting

As an added bonus: how about a little sweepstakes here? Tell me what your #RedKettleReason is in the comments below and you will be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card!

  1. My reason is that I’m thankful our family is fortunate to have a home, food, and gifts at Christmas, and I like to give back to those who aren’t as fortunate.

  13. My reason is that we have been a family with very little money, and Christmas was especially stressful because of it. I want my children to appreciate everything they have, and to know how blessed they are. I want them to give back to others, too.

My #RedKettleReason is because I feel for those that have nothing: no new clothing, not enough food, not enough money, so I give to The Salvation Army, other charities, and locally to food banks, to do what I can to try and alleviate some of this hardship.

  22. My #redkettlereason is to make sure that my family and I are always thinking about more that just ourselves. Small acts of kindness make a great impact. Loved your video and message 🙂

  25. The Salvation Army is tops in my book, because my #RedKettleReason is based on their kindness. When my uncle was at his lowest point, the Salvation Army was there for him, and he was able to get his life together. I had never seen him as happy and peaceful as he was for the last years of his life.

  26. My #RedKettleReason is to do what I can to make another person’s day a little bit brighter. We all go through hard times in our lives and we need to empathize more and make a difference in the world.

  27. My #RedKettleReason is simple, I believe it’s my honor and privilege to give back to those who are less fortunate. As a mother, I can’t agree more with your reason and what a beautiful video you’ve created. I want my kids to be kind and generous to others as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
