Thanks to Disney for sponsoring my coverage of #FutureWormEvent and #TheBFGEvent

While in town for The BFG premiere, we were invited us to the Disney Toon Studios to see a special screening of a brand new Disney XD show that will start in the fall – Future-Worm!

Future-Worm!

First of all, just visiting the building was cool enough. I love being in inspiring places like this with so many creative people walking around!

They had us for breakfast and then into their screening room to learn about Future-Worm! Ok the boys had already watched clips on Disney XD, they are forever way ahead of me.

Future-Worm!

Honestly, I laughed throughout the show. It’s totally up my boys’ alley but I would definitely sit down and watch it with them when it’s on. It’s smart, funny and even had an appearance from Neil deGrasse Tyson!

Future-Worm!

I mean, the worm has a 24-pack of titanium enforced abs, what’s not to love?! Also, I’m hoping to see more of robe-carp (a constantly malfunctioning robot fish), I love that little guy. Here’s a peak at the opening title that explains a bit about the show:

After we viewed Super-Worm! We had a chance to chat with the creator Emmy Award-winning director and producer Ryan Quincy (who’s best known for his work on South Park). Ryan wanted to create a show for his kids that he could watch with his kids (they’d ask to see what he was working on with South Park and if you’ve ever seen it – it’s hilarious – but not for kids). So that’s how Future-Worm! was born. Ryan’s kids even get to have some input here and there.

Each episode will have 3 cartoons (11 minutes, 3 minutes and 7 minutes) so it’s a really great variety. Ryan told us that Neil deGrasse Tyson is making sure there’s some education in there for the kids and he makes sure what they’re putting in is correct.

We asked Ryan to give us a quick background on Danny and Super Worm:  “Danny created this time machine lunchbox, sent it so far into the future that these future scientists found it, opened it up, and some of Danny’s lunch was in there. There was an apple in there that happened to have a worm in it.

And they put it through their genetic escalator, and gave him all these attributes.  Like, the bulletproof beard, the photoreceptor visor, and the 24 titanium-enforced abs. So then, they sent Future Worm back to hang out with Danny.  So that’s kind of in a nutshell, the origin of how they met.”

I think you guys are going to love it and I know your kids will! Danny has a great confidence in himself with who he is even if it is a little weird and I loved that. He lives with his parents and their relationship is so cute.

After the screening we had a chance to meet Future Worm and some scientists along with some Disney animators.

They surprised us with our very own lunchbox which they personalized right there! Ryan even added a bit to mine himself.

Future-Worm! Future-Worm!

This now sits proudly in my office (sorry kids)! Ryan is so talented, so to have him work on a show for families is pretty awesome. I can’t wait  for my boys to watch more and hear their feedback!

Future-Worm!

Here’s another fun clip that my boys love – you can show your kids even more on their YouTube channel

“Future-Worm!” is an animated series about an optimistic 12-year-old who invents a time machine lunch box through which he meets and befriends a fearless worm from the future (one with titanium-enforced abs). Created and executive-produced by Emmy Award-winning director Ryan Quincy (“South Park”), the comedy follows young Danny Douglas and Future Worm (also known as Fyootch) as they embark on adventures through space and time.”

You can start watching Future-Worm! on Disney XD August 1st! Just be prepared to suddenly want to try Captain Cakerz. Oh! and I’ll be back with a fun Future-Worm! inspired DIY project next month.
