This is one of the easiest floating or levitating tricks to learn and is perfect to teach kids to impress their friends and family. You can use any object really, a fork at the dinner table, a straw, a pencil… Learn this along with many of our other easy tricks for kids and you’ll have an entire magic show up your sleeves!This “trick” really is all about the presentation! Any older kid is going to figure out how it’s done but all the easy tricks are so much more fun when you’re dramatic in showing them. This is why these are so fun for kids, as they practice they’ll get better and more entertaining.
Start with a small long object like a pencil, butter knife, straw etc. Place it in your grip with your other hand around your wrist (this works well if the object is a little heavier too you can pretend you need help keeping your hand up.
Place the index finger of your opposite hand over the object and press it against the palm of the hand holding it. Then slowly release the fingers from the grip of the hand holding the pencil.
Make it look difficult for dramatic effect. Here’s what it will look like:
