Just one week to go until the first day of school here! I’m ready to conquer the back-to-school rush, paperwork, and scheduling. I’ve read about the great features of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and we finally got our hands on one after seeing an awesome deal at Target during my weekly (ok several times a week) Target run. We picked out the GS8 in the gorgeous Orchid case and can’t get enough of the Infinity Screen that stretches from edge to edge, giving you the most amount of screen in the least amount of space. It’s awesome to watch movies on!

I was setting it all up for the school year and thought I’d share with you some tips to take better back to school photos and on organizing ALL the paper work that comes back from school all with your GS8.

Organizing school paperwork on your phone

The BIGGEST tip I can give for organizing all the paperwork that comes home from school is take a photo the second it comes in your house. Whether you need to sign and return it or just need to hang on to it for info, nothing is easier than having a file of everything that comes in the house right at your fingertips.

  • If you’re a perfectionist or just like straight paperwork, turn on the grid lines in the camera app of the GS8. Just go to settings in the top right corner with the camera open, scroll down and turn grid lines on. This will help all your photos be lined up a bit better than eyeing it. Tips for taking better back-to-school photos and paperwork organization with the Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Create a folder in your photo app by going to albums, clicking on the three dots on the top right and selecting “create album”. Then you can make an album for each kid, school year, type of paper work etc. Tips for taking better back-to-school photos and paperwork organization with the Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Pull up the photos when you need info on a school event, lost homework info or even need to re-print a permission slip that got dinner spilled all over it.
  • If you take photos of fun art or school work throughout the year you can even create a photo book out of your photos AND you won’t have a huge pile of school work to deal with at the end of the year.

How to take better back to school pictures with your phone

I’ve always tried to take great “professional” back-to-school photos of my boys but let’s face it, the first back-to-school morning can be a little (or a lot) hectic. Grab you phone and head outside or towards a big window or door.

  • You want lots of light but not artificial lights, if you’re inside turn the lights off and head towards a bright window or open door. Better yet, head outside.
  • Have your kids stand in the shade but look towards the open sky. For example, here’s a photo facing the house/patio, there are a lot of harsh shadows on his face. Coming out into the open shade where his eyes are facing open sky makes for a much better photo!Tips for taking better back-to-school photos and paperwork organization with the Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Using the camera app on auto works great and even better if you’re using light to your advantage. Instead of taking a picture inside your house in front of the door, go outside and have the kids look out towards the street. See how much better your photo turns out!

P.S. The front camera is great on the GS8 too!

Right now at Target you can get a $200 Target GiftCard(TM) with the purchase of a GS8 or GS8+ at Target! You can also check back here for any future promotional updates that might be available with the purchase of a GS8 or GS8+ from Target. The splash resistance, fast wireless charging and the option to expand your storage up to 256GB with a microSD card (sold separately) make this such a perfect phone to handle all the back-to-school craziness!
