House Updates: Onelink Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm

We moved about a year ago and have been slowly updating and upgrading features throughout our home. Before we moved in we updated all the flooring, light fixtures, light switches, paint (including the ceilings), and countertops. Since then, we painted the doors, added new doorknobs, and are currently working on painting the kitchen cabinets and adding a backsplash as we did at the last house. In addition to making visual changes to the house, we’ve been upgrading safety features as well. It was super easy to install we replaced our AC Power alarm with this one and it came with adapters plugs so we didn’t even have to do any rewiring. Once it was installed I set it up via the app on my phone and that was it!

I can check the sensors, battery (the ac power alarm has a back up battery in case of a power outage), and even perform a test right on my phone. This gives me so much peace of mind. Especially since the dogs are at home all alone sometimes. Getting those alerts right to my phone means that I can quickly call a neighbor or family to check on the house if I can’t get there right away.

Updating the house isn’t just about looks but this Onelink Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm looks SO much better than the yellowing alarm we had up there before (it was REALLY yellow against my fresh new white walls). It was also a great time to teach the boys how to check the battery and talk about where and how many smoke and carbon monoxide alarms you should have in your house. I have found that all the updates have been such a great time to teach them little life skills and safety reminders. They’re going to be off on their own before I know it!

I haven’t come close to finishing all the updates to the house that I want to do, but we’re slowly getting there. I can’t wait to get the kitchen finished though! The kitchen and the fireplace are in this main area of the house and are the things I’m excited to update the most. After that I’ll tackle the boys’ bathroom I think.
