I love to combine my kids (or friend’s younger kids) with new toys and playtime ideas when they are over. Sometimes toys just aren’t good enough at setting off that spark of imagination.
Next time you’re entertaining kids have their favorite characters on hand (I love this Red Ranger Air Glider and an Ultimate Legendary Megazord for a little Power Rangers fan I know). Along with their faves, try setting out some coloring pages, art supplies and things like scissors, string, glue and even a paper plate.
They’ll likely go for the toys first, but they usually end up coming back around to extend their themed play with coloring pages, mask/costume making or even props to play with. It still works for my boys! So instead of presenting them with a specific activity or craft – leave it up to them!
