Happy Independence Day! It’s almost July 4th and lots of families are getting ready to celebrate. I, unfortunately, am in the middle of a full on auto immune flare up so my boys have been getting a bit restless waiting for Mom to feel better. I decided to give them LEGO challenges today as a hands on, screen free activity.
One (of the many) cool things about LEGO bricks is that there are so many ways to create the same thing. Challenges are fun because you’ll see your kids use the bricks in different ways from the same prompt. Once you’ve done a few they can display their creations for family (or take photos for out of state family).
We were inspired to do some patriotic creations after seeing this time lapse video of the largest LEGO American Flag ever made! It was created at the National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. (which is HIGH on my sons “must visit someday” list) to help open their new Innovation Wing. The flag is 8’x14’, 560lbs and 109,200 bricks!
Did any of our readers help build it?!
Whether you’re stuck at home like me or out celebrating we wanted to wish you a very happy Independence Day!
