BUILDING AN EMPIRE ON AN UNPLUGGED GAME NIGHT #ad

We’re playing #MonopolyEmpire game on our game nights as part of a Hasbro paid series for Socialstars™

After having a few “unplugged” family nights, I’m finding them more and more important. Having quality family time doesn’t mean you have to have an awkward Q&A session. To us it just means taking time, putting the distractions away (our phones/computers/tvs) and being together. Playing a game is always a great way to do that and the Monopoly Empire game is the boys’ recent new favorite!

Sometimes the same old games just aren’t fitting the bill so it’s always fun to try a new twist on a classic! The game is revamped starting with the tokens (no thimbles here); they are relevant brands that you and your kids will recognize. In this game version, you buy your favorite brands (like XBOX, Nerf, Nickelodeon, Beats, Skype, Polaroid and Candy Crush) and build your empire by filling up your towers. Then, depending on which, and how many, brands you own, you can charge more and more rent to the other players! Because of the changes the game play is a bit faster than original Monopoly game.

The boys played a few times before family night so they were ready for us the first time we all sat down to play! You don’t have to make a fancy contraption, but there’s something about physically putting your phones away that signals the start of family time. Try putting everyone’s devices away (where you can’t see the flashing screens) at the beginning of game night. It makes such a huge difference and we have even more fun because we’re 100% there with each other. It also lets the boys know that even though we’re all busy, they are important enough to us to put away our phones to have fun with them.

I love taking time to play board games like the Monopoly Empire game for family night with the boys because it always sparks fun (and funny) conversations. We also learn who is going to be a better businessman 😉 Playing games with the boys gets more fun as they get older! I encourage you to try putting your devices away next game night. Even if it’s for a quick game. Sometimes I need to remind myself to stop working for a bit to give the boys all my attention and a game night is the perfect and fun excuse!
