I shared our highlight reel and how to create my runDisney costume from this year’s Disney Social Media Moms Celebration but what else did I do and learn at the event?

When we first arrived we checked in at the Disneyland Hotel. If you’ve never stayed on property – DEFINITELY add it to your list. It was such a different experience to be staying on property than our usual quick trips. Since we have family in town we’ve always just stayed with them but there are some huge advantages to staying on site. Starting with the magic of Disney as soon as you walk in.

We checked in for the Celebration and knew right then that we were in for an amazing weekend! Our favorites from check in was learning about our new favorite app – Disney Animated.

The boys got an iTunes gift card so bought this app right away and it is definitely worth it. We all love exploring and learning with it!

The first night we had a fun kick off party sponsored by Coppertone. It’s where I got to chat with Michael Colglazier the President of Disneyland and where my friend Sara won the most amazing tour that she invited us on!

After the welcome party we headed into Disneyland with our families for dinner at Big Thunder Ranch sponsored by Disney Magic of Healthy Living where we got to learn about their Try It campaign.

The next day was conference day driven by Alamo . This day was so inspiring and educational for me while my boys had an awesome Dad/son day in the parks and hotel pool.

Some of my favorite notes from conference day

Tom Staggs – Chairman Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has a child(ren) with food allergies so he gets it. I’ve said before but we have always felt safe eating gluten free at Disneyland and they do SUCH a great job with serving those with allergies. He also said that “Quality of cast is the single most important factor to the Disney parks” and I couldn’t agree more. It’s what sets them apart for sure.

Thomas Smith Social Media Director Disney Parks – his goal is to “humanize” Disney through social media. Love that!

Jay Ward  Creative Director Cars Franchise Pixar Animation Studios – I loved hearing him speak about the passion he has for his job and attention to detail. Such an inspiration! He also made my love for Carsland even greater.

Donald Driver – “No one can tell my kids that I’m a great dad or a great husband. Only I can do that.”

Maxine Clark  Founder Build-A-Bear Workshop – “It’s not what you have, but what you have to give, that makes you a legacy”

Gary Buchanan Social Media Manager Disney Parks – Idea killers are everywhere. Spark Creativity.

Doug Bowman Twitter – Your voice is what makes Twitter human.

The next day we had a breakfast sponsored by Disney Junior where I learned from LeVar Burton (YES! The Reading Rainbow guy) that “In some of the lowest income neighborhoods there is only 1 book for every 300 kids”. This is ridiculous. Disney Junior launched the Give a Book Get a Book program for this reason.

That afternoon was our tour and probably the best day in Parker’s life so far (he wants to be a Disney Imagineer when he grows up and LOVES all things Disney) He chatted with our tour guide the entire time and asked him for advice for working with Disney.

That night we had ToonTown to ourselves thanks to GoGoSqueez and got to spend some time with our blogger friends and families.

I have to say that the family time and interaction was by far my favorite part. Even while at a conference family and memories is so important to Disney and it shows!

The next morning was the runDisney fun run and the ultimate Carsland experience (if you haven’t been to Carsland yet you’re missing out!)

Disclosure: Our family was invited to the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. In exchange for a conference fee, I was provided with room accommodations, park passes, several meals, and admission to conference events. I was not asked to write about our experiences at the conference or about sponsors at the conference. While posting is not a requirement, we had so much fun we just want to share some of the magic with you.
