We created this bold digital art project for kids with #LISTERINE as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™ #BringOutTheBold
One thing I haven’t spent a lot of time on with the boys is art! I sometimes forget that there are more ways than just drawing or painting to express art. Both my boys love creating digitally so we had a fun afternoon talking about where inspiration for art comes from and learning how to create some easy digital art that they can create on their own. We went with some BOLD art pieces since we’ve been working on our own version of LISTERINE®’s Bring Out the Bold™ campaign challenge this year!
Isn’t that art piece SO fun?! It’s super easy to create too with the right (free) tools. When talking to my boys about art, I always start with inspiration. It’s a great way for someone who might not be naturally super artistic to get their brain working and juices flowing. I got these awesome limited edition LISTERINE® Deco bottles that are sold exclusively at Target and Target.com ( right now if you purchase any qualifying 3 LISTERINE® oral care products you’ll receive a $5 gift card to Target) and they served as the perfect inspiration piece for our digital art project. Plus, they’re fun to display in the bathroom!
Ok so how did the boys do it? With one of my favorite free online resources – Canva! I let my kids explore it some and then walked them through how to do different things. We started with a blank A4 canvas and added the photo of Chance. You can upload photos or they have some that are free and some you can purchase.
You can move around and resize images here on the canvas. Next, we clicked on the “elements” tab on the left.
Clicked on “shapes” and chose a free triangle shape. On the top you’ll see a black box, click on this and you can choose any color you like!
On the top towards the right you can adjust the opacity of your shape (or selected object) this is how we made the shape see through.
Add more shapes the same way and you have a really fun art piece to display! We put ours on the mantle along with this Robert Frost quote.
Now the boys are designing all kinds of things! I hope this inspired you to create some bold art with the kids! If you can’t draw or paint, don’t let that stop you from exploring other types of art.
