Terrariums are a fun way to bring theming into any room or party. You can follow what we did or just look at ours for inspiration.
For yours you can put in anything you want or theme it to any them you like. We decided to make ours Star Wars and made it very simple. All we made ours out of was a terrarium, homemade “sand”, and a few Star Wars toys. You can use a regular terrarium or just use any jar you already have.
To start just pour in some sand for the bottom layer. If you don’t have sand just make your own!
We smoothed out the sand to make it resemble Rey’s home planet Jakku. You can use anything to make the bottom layer such as grass, moss, etc. to theme the terrarium more. After that I set up the toys, making sure they were set-up in a way that makes sense. Here are a few other terrarium ideas we thought would be super cool!
Minecraft
Cover the bottom with some fake moss or grass and add some mini bushes or trees made with fake moss. Then add a few Minecraft toys or Lego Minifigures
Pokemon
Same as Minecraft but replace them with Pokemon toys.
Ocean
Pour in some water for the ocean water. If you’d like the water to be a different blue, you can add some food coloring to make it resemble the ocean more. Than you could add ships or a deserted island with some vegetation and a few animals. You could also add a fake reef and/or fish.
Desert
Similar to the Star Wars one but instead make the desert on earth. You could add fake or real cactuses and some dead bushes or a few desert wildlife.
Jungle
Add some taller trees inside the terrarium. Also add some smaller vegetation. You can also add a few jungle animals and a small river running through it!
Terrariums are easy to make and add some extra decoration to any room. We had a lot of fun coming up with these ideas and we hope these give you some inspiration for your own!
