Easy DIY Begleri Fidget Toy

Recently, skill toys have been becoming increasingly popular. There’s been lots of new ones gaining popularity, and one of those is a begleri. The begleri actually isn’t very new, since it’s really been around from before the 1960s, but has been getting more popular lately due to a resurgence in interest in skill toys similar to it. Essentially it’s a short-ish piece of string and a heavy bead, or something like it, tied on each end. With it all together, you’re able to work it between, over, and around your fingers and hand. You can also put a bunch of these moves together to make combos which I think look pretty cool and impressive. An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!

All you’ll need to make one is string, or paracord, and 2 small metal objects that are the same size and have holes through the middle. Like 2 metal nuts. I prefer paracord because it’s a lot stronger and doesn’t fray or untwine as much so that it doesn’t interfere when you do tricks with it. You can also use stuff besides hardware nuts. For example, I’ve seen some begleri with a pair of dice with holes drilled through them.An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!

Once you have all the materials, it’s really easy to put together and start playing with. All you have to is thread the paracord through the object and tie it off to achieve the preferred length. I just did a regular knot and it definitely holds up fine while flipping it. The length depends on the type of flipping you want to do. A shorter string will flip a lot faster, and can go around the fingers easily, and a longer string flips slower and can go around the palm easier. The length depends solely on preference, so play around with sizes and decide what you like best. This one measures right about 6 inches when it was finished. An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!

And that’s it! Once you have it all put together you can start practicing and doing tricks; it really doesn’t take long at all to get the hang of!An easy DIY Begleri tutorial - a different kind of fidget toy!

Here’s a simple video of this one in action:

And this is a cool video of a begleri with larger beads and a longer cord.
