We have Star Wars on the brain lately and can’t WAIT for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to come out in December! My boys were having some “screen free” time this week and came up with this fun craft all on their own after we saw this cute video.
R2D2 would make a great cord keeper too! The boys are talking about making a few more for family and friends. Since it’s sort of a pixelated style this craft is right up their alley. They made their design using Perler Beads:
You’ll need 2 copies of your design. Then make a middle piece (the gray one shown below) that is smaller than your shape for the cord to wrap around. Iron each shape according to the Perler directions.
My boys wanted a very slim design and this worked well, but 2 middle pieces probably work out better than 1 to hold the cord, especially if it’s any longer than the traditional Apple cords.
Then you’ll glue the pieces together. We used hot glue.
That’s it! Since our design had a “cut out” already around his neck that’s where we place the ear buds. If your design is a perfect circle, you’ll need to take out a few of the beads to create a spot.
I slip the end through the cord just to make sure it stays, but this has been carried around in pockets this last week and has held up great along with keeping the cord nice and neat!
I wonder what design we should make next…

Such a good idea! I will be making this tomorrow, no more lost ear buds! Thanks for the idea!
