I LOVE surprising people with gifts! Especially if I can help create special family memories for them. The holidays are my favorite time to make up and surprise our friends with special gift baskets. I recently came up with this fun family night in a box for our friends after my latest Target run (of course).
When I go to Target I like to search through the current savings on their Cartwheel App to find new products to try or to be inspired for gifts if I don’t have an idea yet. They will be having some awesome savings of 30% off from November 26-28 on Swiss Miss / Reddi-wip / Slim Jim / Orville Redenbacher so it will be the perfect time for you to stock up for your own family or buy to put together this easy gift box for a friend!

That’s Thanksgiving weekend if you’re keeping track, so I’m sure there will be lots of other great savings as well. You’ll be able to sample a hot cup of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate while shopping at these stores that same weekend – yay for samples and shopping fuel!

Back to the family night. All the snacks made me think of a fun family night so I had the idea to create a box that would tell a family exactly what to do (and have all the ingredients) for a fun night.

First, buy all your snacks (or the family’s favorite snacks) along with a box and any other fun extras (which is NOT hard to find at Target).

I found some cute ornaments that they could add onto their tree as well as make a cute label for the box.

Add all the snacks and family night items to the box.

You could include a new movie, game or add these fun printables. I have a label, instructions and recipe for hot cocoa floats as well as a holiday game for older kids or a holiday matching game for families with younger kids!

I added a bit of ribbon to the instructions which tells the family to put all their phones/devices into the box so they can enjoy each other.

For the printable games you could put them in a box, or just wrap them up like I did with the instructions/title or some string.

Add everything to the box and it’s ready to give! SO easy, but it makes a fun statement.

I love giving everything for a fun night, or just the fact that it could just inspire them to create their own. The holiday game is like Headbanz, Heads Up or just reverse charades. You hold up a card (or use a headband from another game) and the other players, or your partner depending on how you want to play, try to get you to guess the word with clues.

If the family has younger kids, you could include the holiday matching game!

The printables also include a cute hot cocoa float “recipe” as an idea to use up the Swiss Miss that you put in the gift box. Make hot chocolate according to the directions (we make ours with milk). Add a scoop or two of vanilla, chocolate or peppermint ice cream, then top with whipped cream and sprinkles! SO good with hot or cooled chocolate.

We slipped in a movie and some battery operated lights before leaving the gift basket at their door. Now we’re ready to re-create it for our own family night! Do you know someone who would love to receive this fun family night gift?
