Thanksgiving is a great time to think about all the things you are thankful for. I love coming up with a family project for the month of November to get everyone (even guests) involved with expressing things in their life that they are thankful for. This year we’re doing a Thankful Tree with a photo twist!
For the tree I used this file from Carina Gardner for my silhouette machine. But, you could just draw your own or let your kids draw a tree. This one is several pieces put together but you could just do a few sheets from a roll of paper for the same effect.
I cut the tree on my silhouette out of black cardstock because it’s what I had on hand, you could use brown or kraft paper as well! I used regular tape to attach the pieces to the wall for the base of our tree.
I printed my photos out in a tree shape with Photoshop, but you’d just need to print out photos (or use photos you already have) and cut into a simple shape. The simpler the better for quick and easy cutting!
You can write sentiments and/or dates on the back if you want to save them and add to your tree each year and then tape up onto your tree (tip: washi tape comes off of paper cleaner if you want to re-use your leaves)
If you don’t think you’ll have too many photos, you can also add some paper leaves and write or draw what you’re thankful for on them.
We’re doing a mixture of both that way our friends and family that come over can easily add to the tree too!
This is such a fun way to get your photos off your phone and into your home for the month! HERE‘s a free printable leaf file if you want to make your own. Feel free to print on different colored paper for more of a traditional fall look!
Do you do a “thankful project” for November?
