If you would have told me that my job would be writing, photographing, playing, traveling and inspiring people on the internet when I was a kid I would have thought you were crazy (especially because internet was most definitely NOT mainstream when I was a kid). There are so many types of jobs and the boys and I talk a lot about what’s out there for them.

We’ve been following a website that Kronos started called 1 in 100 Million sharing personal stories of people who do every day jobs from things my boys would immediately think of like a teacher, firefighter or nurse to really unique jobs like a baseball bat maker, alligator wrangler or pinball pro.

Each job and worker has such a unique story that the 1 in 100 million site has almost become a little tv series for us! Their latest episode is about Troy Mitchum who leads the security team at the Wynn, Las Vegas (which is cool since we were there not too long ago)! The Wynn has 12,000 employees, with over 400 of them working in the security force (humans and K-9s!). I’m sure you can guess what my boys were interested in. Yes, the K-9s 😉

I love being able to share these stories with the boys as they get older. Troy has been with Wynn for 30 years, and was recently promoted to this job. During his journey with the company, he risen through the ranks, and has held 8 different positions. Starting in 1985 he worked in the mail room, then folded towels, cleaned the pool, was a bellman, and worked as a Valet parking cars – all of which he says have been valuable in helping him get to where he is today. These are the stories I LOVE the boys to hear. There is so much instant fame (or desire for instant/easy fame) that it’s important to me that they hear from different people all the many ways there are to move up or enter into a job.

These are such fun (quick) stories that your family can all watch together! You can subscribe to their site (totally free, we did it a while ago) and get an email when they post a new episode. We can’t wait to see who they feature next!
