Fall Apple Cider Bar

My boys LOVE fall. It’s definitely their favorite time of year. The changing of seasons (well the weather cools down a bit for us in the desert anyway) and the excitement of the holidays. I take advantage of that excitement and try to plan fun activities with friends and family – even just a small little get together can be made fun with a “reason” to get together like this easy Fall Apple Cider Bar.

I love little things like this that looks so fun and special for the kids, but that is quick and easy to put together.

To keep the “quick and easy” theme going I clean up with Clorox disinfecting wipes. I love that we can clean most surface areas with them and it’s easy to use. They are also great for disinfecting those germy spots like doorknobs, light switches, TV remotes, faucets and plastic toys. When my niece and nephew come over (or other family and friends during the holidays) I try to remember to clean all the toys they play with so the boys don’t spread their school germs with their cousins! If someone does happen to get sick we go crazy disinfecting the house to keep it from spreading!

For our cider bar we had

  • cider (hot and cold)
  • chocolate candy
  • marshmallows
  • freeze dried cinnamon apples
  • caramels
  • cinnamon sticks
  • cinnamon
  • ice cream (for floats)
  • whipped cream

If your kids aren’t old enough to pour you can put the cider in a beverage container with a spout. Have the kids add all the toppings they want to their cider. It’s funny to see how different the kids are. There are always some who are super conservative with what they put in their cider and others who load it all in!

The ice cream was definitely a hit with both the hot and cold cider.

The chocolates and caramels are great for the hot cider because they melt in your drink (use a cinnamon stick for a stir stick but remind kids not to use them as a straw).

Once everyone has made their masterpieces – real life starts to show, you know, the mess!

I stay healthy by going the other way when I hear coughing people! Just kidding. hahaha No, seriously. I always make sure when I get in the car after I shop to use that Germ-X and I think that’s about it! I keep my house clean so no worries there, disinfecting wipes!

  8. It really seems odd to see a Clorox wipes bottle in a fall cider post and you totally lost me on this one. We use bleach sparingly in our home and then, only by adults wearing gloves in situations where other less toxic cleaners are ineffective. I would never allow a child to use it or to clean up after fresh food or on wooden furniture. I also only buy bleach in a small bottle and use it with a reusable sponge or cloth vs. a throw away single use towelette – we keep bleach with the dangerous chemicals, not out where kids can access them. There are many good germs and bacteria that should be embraced, not killed, for the good health of humans and the planet and who needs the bleach fumes in and on their bodies? I know you probably need to write these advertorials to keep the blog running, but a damp cloth and water are the way to go with wood and children. Just my two cents.

  9. Teaching the kids to wash their hands and sneeze in the elbow to avoid spreading germs. Of course cleaning too.
