Finding gifts for teens is HARD! I’ve heard so many parents say that their teen’s wishlist is small, non-existent, or has very few things on it. My favorite thing about the holidays is finding a perfect gift for everyone on my list, so I’ve learned to get creative when looking for gifts. Last year, I found some REALLY great items on Facebook Marketplace. It’s such an awesome one-stop-shop to find some amazing, unique items and save some money.

I love shopping Facebook Marketplace because it’s a mix of new, vintage, and, in our community, even some handmade items! I have found some really great gift ideas just browsing Facebook Marketplace, but you can also save specific searches to get alerted when things go up for sale nearby if you know what you’re looking for. It’s easy to browse on your phone or computer!

Finding Unique Gifts for Teens on Facebook Marketplace

Here are some tips on finding that perfect gift on Facebook Marketplace:

• Search for things your teens are into and see what pops up. What’s great about Facebook Marketplace is that you never know what you might find by searching.
• Browse items nearby to see if anything might be of interest. You can even filter by category and price.
• Browse through the antiques and collectibles section for some great ideas.
• Search for sports they play or activities they’re into.
• Think BIG – maybe look for a new piece of furniture for their room or storage for their favorite collectibles. This is SUCH a great way to shop for big items or things you might not have thought about, or assumed were out of your budget.

Facebook Marketplace is my favorite way to buy (and even sell) locally. You don’t have to download another app or set up a new account, it’s easy to communicate on items over Messenger, and you can even check out a person’s public Facebook profile before choosing to buy or sell from them.

My oldest loves collecting vinyl records (vintage and new), so I have a search saved on Facebook Marketplace. Last week, this GREAT set popped up that included a stand to hold a little record player, along with some really amazing new records and a fun sign. I never thought about looking for a stand for him, but it was such a perfect idea, especially because he likes setting up his record player in the living room for parties!

The price could not be beaten at under $100 for everything, including the record player, so I contacted the seller right away. She responded quickly and since I was out shopping already I just swung by an ATM to get out some cash and went straight to her house.

Everything was in really great condition! The only thing I wanted to change was the color of the stand so I grabbed a can of spray paint and switched it up. It’s now the perfect gift that my teen didn’t even know he wanted.

Since he already has a record player he loves, I got to wrap up this one for another teen on my list. And bonus, it got me brainstorming about more ideas for family that I hadn’t thought of before.

In addition to finding some great gift ideas, I’ve also been selling on Facebook Marketplace this year and making money to purchase all my Christmas gifts!
