Crafteeo – DIY Cardboard Warrior Helmets

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. Please see policies for more information.

Crafteeo is an awesome Dad started idea about transforming cardboard into the coolest warrior helmets you’ve ever seen.

They set us one of their helmet kits to try out. Crafteeo has all the patterns available now to use your own cardboard or helmet kits that come with everything you need including the already templated cardboard (what we show here). Creating these helmets is 1/2 the fun!

I loved putting this one together! There are great short videos to walk you through the entire process which help SO much. I stepped away from the table and came back to this lol!

So you can transform regular old cardboard into this masterpiece

Pretty awesome right?!

We decided to make this one for a younger friend so it’s a bit small but didn’t stop him from wearing it (for a while!) This one has a little electronic component that lights up when you put it on! (apparently this is his warrior face)

You know we love using cardboard and this is just brilliant. So much better than the lame plastic helmets you can find in stores AND this one was handmade!

Imagination and a little engineering and you have the perfect prop for endless play!

Check out Crafteeo for your kids or warrior lovers. You can get the templates HERE and watch out for their kits to become available (what we used) I think you’ll love it!

Update! All 4 helmet kits are now available! And Crafteeo has generously offered All for the Boys readers a $5 off coupon on any of the Guardian Helmet Kits!  SUCH a great gift idea!

Enter coupon code aftbhk2013 for $5 off any of the Guardian Helmet kits – expires 12/31/2013

Disclosure: We were sent a kit to try out but were not compensated to post about the Crafteeo company – we just think they’re pretty awesome.

  1. This is incredible and all of your wonderful ideas. Have you happen to come across an ankylosaurus' tail made out of cardboard? My boy fell in love with it. I saw it on Pinterest and thought and had pinned it but sadly I cannot find it anywhere. If you find it in your travels or better yet make it yourself could you please let me know? Thank you so much! 😉

  2. Thank you so much for this post! My son and I got the pattern rather than the kit and made the same helmet as you. It was A LOT of work but super fun to do together. He kept repeating "This is awesome!" over and over again even as our hands were cramping cutting all the cardboard. We spent about 6 hours together cutting, preparing and gluing all the pattern pieces together. All we have left now is to paint it and we can't wait for the final result.

  3. Allison thank you again for taking the time to try out our product. A tip for anyone that purchased the Helmet Patterns and want the metallic look, I recommend the Folk Art Acrylic Metallic Paint. It pretty thick and goes on very nicely. For the gold and silver trims you can Sharpie Gold or Silver markers.

    • Hi How-Lun Chen,
Are these helmet templates still available? I’ve searched the website and would like to order multiple!
      Thanks.

  4. Great job! I’ve been using these methods for over seven years to make fun and cheap costumes that the kids can wear and play in. I highly recommend finding a good sealant for the cardboard though. Paper sucks the paint up but if you prime it, you can get a convincing surface with less paint. Also, if you have patience, you can close the open core edges with masking tape before you paint.
