Recycled Play with YOXO

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. Please see policies for more information.

Disclosure: We were provided a gift card to purchase YOXO sets but were not compensated to post. As always we share what we love and opinions are entirely our own.

We’ve passed by some of these fun packages a couple times while shopping at Target and finally decided to try them out! YOXO‘s “award-winning building sets inspire kids to design and build their own toys using recyclable Y, O, and X-shaped links that connect in numerous ways with everyday household materials like paper towel rolls and cereal boxes. The result: endless hours of play that foster creativity and fuel imagination.”

Yoxo - recycled building toyEach set comes with connectors and a few fun recycled pieces but you can add whatever you want from your own recycle bin to create anything you can imagine, big or small.

Yoxo - recycled building toyTo start out, there are some fun directions in each set as well.

Yoxo - recycled building toyThe pieces connect to each other and to other cardboard pieces that you can add in. I think it helps to create from the directions first so that they can see how the pieces can connect in different ways.

Yoxo - recycled building toyI also love how you can just combine all the sets you collect together to create bigger and better things!

Yoxo - recycled building toyOne bonus to this building set is that it’s light if you want to pack it away to play with on vacation. Sometimes toys can be heavy and/or bulky but these are neither, plus kids can use cardboard you gather along the way.

Yoxo - recycled building toyYou can pick up YOXO on their site or at Target.

I love the classroom set they have available too! Once you pick up your own you can even download a free Idea Generator with some new instructions on their site which my 10 year old loves!

Be sure to share your creations using #YOXOtoys on social media – we’ll be sharing ours! Thought you’d like this fun idea for your own kids or as a gift!

  1. It’s great to know that there is something else that can be as inspirational as Lego blocks! I like the concept of recyclable parts! We try to be a green household and I’ll definitely give it a try! Thanks for sharing here!
