School Lunch Idea: Deli Meat Cracker Bites

Well that summer flew by! The boys are already back to school which means lots of school lunch ideas needed! Whether they are taking their lunch or need creative options for when they get home or on the weekend, it seems everyone is searching for unique school lunch ideas lately. I love a great lunch idea, but it has to be a couple of things – good quality, easy, and delicious. Even if it’s the cutest lunch, if it’s not good and easy, it doesn’t help me out! These Boar’s Head Deli Meat cracker bites are a staple in our house over the summer or during the school year. I love that you can create any combo that your kids like and it can really switch up the flavor so it doesn’t feel like you’re eating the same thing every day.

Deli Meat Cracker Bites

I think these deli meat cracker bites (I didn’t know what else to call them) became a staple in our house because we almost always have ingredients on hand. While the varieties might change, we always have Boar’s Head Meats, Cheese, and some sort of cracker in the house. I love that Boar’s Head has so many great options and quality ingredients that parents can trust and my kids have always loved. Picking out a new variety at the deli used to be one of their favorite things to do (the samples that the deli worker hand out never hurt)! Now that they’re busy with school and extra-curricular activities, I’m usually shopping alone, but they love seeing what I come home from the store with!

Back to lunch – we currently have a couple of favorite combos. To make these two you’ll need:

• Boar’s Head Maple Honey Ham
• Boar’s Head Roast Beef
• Boar’s Head Cream Havarti Cheese with Dill
•  Boar’s Head Aged Canadian Cheddar Cheese
• Jalapeño Jelly
• Crackers (I like the harder nut crackers because they seem to hold up longer)

To make, simply cut the cheese & meat into pieces that layer well on the crackers, add jelly if using and layer!

For these combos we did:

• Cracker, Jalapeño Jelly, Aged Cheddar, & Ham
• Cracker Cream Havarti Cheese with Dill, & Roast Beef (this one is good with cucumbers too if your kids like cucumbers)

I make several bites and layer them on a plate or in a lunch box. You can separate them with a little square of wax paper or just put all the ingredients in the lunchbox for the kids to layer themselves when they’re ready to eat.

Since there are so many great Boar’s Head options, the kids can really play with flavor combos. Different sauces/jellies, cheese, and meats all make different flavors and create a totally unique lunch time experience. Add in some fruit, veggies, granola bar, a little dessert and you have a great lunch with lots of favorites. We actually even make these when we do “snack trays” or a charcuterie board for an easy dinner during the week. Anything to make meal time easier during the busy times of year!
