Since 3rd grade, both my son and I have worn glasses. Getting an eye exam is important for everyone to do including those of us who need our prescription updated once a year!
I did not have my kids’ eyes examined as early as I should have. Comprehensive eye exams are essential starting at age 3! Finally taking your kid to the Optometrist when they’ve already been in school for a few years and then finding out that they need glasses definitely can give you a bit of mom guilt. Then watching them put on their glasses for the first time to see the world around them clearly – an amazing experience!
So whether or not you think your kids need vision correction – schedule a check up with your local Pearle Vision. We see Dr. Paul at our Pearle Vision in Desert Ridge Marketplace. We love the staff, how involved the exams are (the boys like seeing the pictures of their eyes) and their amazing selection of frames.
The staff at Pearle Vision always done such a great job with the kids, explaining things in ways that makes it interesting to them while still getting in all the testing they need to. This definitely helps make taking the whole family that much easier.
Since some of us need glasses (or contacts) we can order them there right after our exams. Parker actually tried contacts but he prefers to wear glasses. He loves the frames he has gotten from Pearle Vision over the last couple of years. He constantly gets comments on them and people asking where he got them.
You can even come along with us on our last visit in a video we did HERE!
Starting off the school year with a fresh eye exam is important for the kids and for me to know that I’ve done what I can to give them the best start! Since going to Pearle Vision it’s never been a chore since everyone is happy to go. We usually make a day out of it and grab some lunch and do some shopping at Desert Ridge Marketplace where our Pearle Vision is.
Don’t be one of the 75% of children haven’t had an eye exam by age 5 even though they should have their first at age 3. Considering that 10% of preschoolers and 25% of kids in K-6th grade have vision deficiencies, getting an exam should be part of your back to school routine. We’ve already gotten ours, have you gotten yours yet? Tell me in the comments below for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card. How about a giveaway to help out?

Our whole family gets regular eye checks because poor vision unfortunately runs in the family.

We got ours this spring!
Their eyes are checked at regular physicals and if there was any indication that something was off, I’d definitely schedule a more in depth appointment to check eyes.

My son’s preschool told me he needs an eye exam soon, I was a little shocked. I was a child in the 80’s, so things are a lot different these days. I will be asking his doctor for a referral to the eye doctor next month.
