We love a good quick roadtrip! Tucson is an awesome location for a roadtrip from Phoenix, especially in the Spring. It’s a bit cooler than Phoenix, everything is blooming and there is so much to do.
We stayed at The Westward Look Resort Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa. It’s a gorgeous and historic property perfect for my family who loves to explore!
We loved reading about their history and then imagining what it must have been like to visit in their early years. Besides the obvious swimming (which is a must when on vacation) they also have
- horseback riding and stables on-site
- mountain bikes
- a 24-hour fitness center
- access to eight championship tennis courts
- basketball
- volleyball
- nature trail
- gardens on site
- night vision goggles tours
- star gazing through our Celestron 2000 telescope (awesome activities for families)!
We definitely recommend the nature walk. I’ve lived in Phoenix my entire life and have learned plenty about the native wild and plant life but Raymundo taught us quite a bit of new fun facts on our nature tour. The boys really liked checking out the chef’s garden as well! This is a great property if you’re looking for that quintessential “desert” feel.
We stayed in a 650 square foot casita suite and they even have star gazing suites! Plenty of room for a family to move around and relax in.
The food on property is really great (GOLD has an awesome seasonal menu and the Lookout Bar & Grille is more southwestern with a twist), and you’re right near Tucson so you’re close enough to enjoy lots of local activities. Some of our favorites places to visit while in town:
- Pima Air & Space Museum
- Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
- Reid Park Zoo
- Any of the State or National Parks for hiking/exploring
The Westward Look was a great place to call home for the weekend. I love all the extra activities they have on property, the food on property and nearby is great the rooms are spacious and we even checked out some live music at the Lookout Bar & Grille on Friday night!
If you’re going to relax they have a wonderful spa on site – mix that with some morning strolls on their on property trails and you have a super relaxing desert weekend ready for you! The property is gorgeously landscaped so it’s fun to just walk around and take it all in!
Here’s a little video we made of our roadtrip:
Have you ever been to Tucson or is it on your list of places to visit?!
