Ready for Summer? This is a fun game to play outdoors with water guns (or water squirter of your choice)! This water game works great for parties, or just to keep the kids busy this summer.
You’ll just need cups, something to make a hole (like a small screwdriver or other sharp object), string, and maybe some tape.
Cut or punch a hole into the bottom of the cup (I made mine close to the edge as opposed to right in the middle since the cup is resting on the string). Put the cup on the string through the hole and attach the string to posts or tape to a wall outside.
Use your water guns or other water squirting toy to get the cup to move to the other end. Unless your gun is super powerful you’ll need to pay attention to the direction of the water (good target practice)
You can race your friends to the other side or just practice yourself!

Great idea! Easy to setup, nothing to break and the perfect summer activity! Thanks for sharing this! : )
I love this! My kids would absolutely have a blast playing this game!! It would make a perfect addition to my summer craft camp
I would love it if you would share with our weekly linkup party!

We’re on our back deck doing this activity right now! My boys are having the time of their lives! Thanks for the great idea! 🙂
Awesome! So glad they are loving it. We had tons of fun with it too!
Do you remember where you purchased the blue cups? I can only seem to find red disposable plastic cups, and I would prefer blue or yellow for my despicable me minion-themed party. TIA!
Hi Karen! Target or Walmart! I believe I saw some at Target recently. They are Hefty brand. Good luck!
We will be trying this one tomorrow at our Company Picnic.
How fun! Let me know how it goes!
Hi Allison! I need help. It did not work well in practice. I tried different size holes in the cups. I un-twisted twine in an effort to split it into two. Finally, I tried several different water pistols in an effort to get the cups to actually move in some sort of exciting way. It seems it only works if you use very high powered water guns (i.e. not dollar store guns, but instead the big costly Super Soaker type). Can you give me some hints? Is there a type of twine or string that works best? Party is less than a week away. Thanks.
What type of string are you using and are you tying it so it’s taught? You can try some synthetic nylon string to see if it would run smoother. We just used cotton string and it worked fine. With the smaller guns it moved slower and you needed to be closer to the cups. It won’t zoom across the string but you can get it to move. I was ok with this because it made it last longer. When you get a bunch of kids together this doesn’t matter as much, it’s just the fun of trying hard to get it to move. Now, the tiny water guns definitely may not have enough power, you could always use the pool noodle water pusher type things we used here – https://allfortheboys.com/home/2015/06/29/water-fun-squirt-gun-targets.html they are inexpensive but have more power than the small guns. I hope that helped! It’s not going to move fast with the really low pressure guns, there’s just not a whole lot you can do about that. I hope this helped!
This is a great idea…I think I my try setting up our string across the shallow end of the pool and see how that goes. I betting it will work well with the foam water guns…I’ll try and report back.
