How to make Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy & Linus Cookies
YIELDS: 1 dozen
SUPPLIES NEEDED
- 2 plastic cookie molds
- 12 regular Oreo cookies
- 3 blocks of vanilla almond bark
- 1/4 cup Wilton red candy melts
- 1/2 cup Wilton bright white candy melts
- 1/2 cup Wilton yellow candy melts
- Wilton black decorator gel
- Wilton white decorator gel
- Wilton snowflake sprinkles
- 4-5 mini M&M candies-cut in half
HOW TO MOLD THE COOKIES
- Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper and set aside.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave the vanilla almond bark for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir. Continue to microwave in 10 second increments until melted and smooth.
- Fill 6 molds with 2 tablespoons of the melted almond bark. Place an Oreo cookie on top and then spoon additional melted almond bark over the Oreos, up to the top of the molds.
- Chill for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
- Once chilled, gently pop each cookie out of the mold and place on the lined baking sheet.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave the bright white chocolate melts for 45 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir until melted.
- Fill two of the molds with 2 Tablespoons of the melted white chocolate. Place Oreo cookies on top and then spoon additional white chocolate over the Oreos.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave the yellow chocolate melts for 45 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir until melted.
- Fill two of the molds with 2 Tablespoons of the melted yellow chocolate. Place 2 Oreos on top and then spoon additional yellow chocolate over the Oreos, up to the top of the mold.
- Finally, add the red melts to a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 45 seconds and then stir until completely melted.
- Fill the final mold with 2 tablespoons of melted red chocolate. Place an Oreo cookie on top and then spoon additional red chocolate over the Oreo, completely covering it.
- Place the molds in the refrigerator and chill for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
- Once chilled, gently pop each cookie out and place on the lined baking sheet.
HOW TO DECORATE THE SNOOPY OREOS
With the black icing tube, pipe Snoopys ears down the sides of the white Oreos. Snoopys eyes remind me of quotation marks so that’s how I made them – I piped 2 right-sided quotation marks on both Oreos for the eyes. For the nose, pipe a long oval shape. Lastly, pipe a smile on both cookies. Place the Snoopy cookies on the lined baking sheet to “set”.
HOW TO DECORATE SNOOPYS HOUSE
Draw 5 lines across the red Oreo with the black icing tube. Up at the top of the Oreo, pipe white icing and place snowflake sprinkles on top. With the black icing, pipe 2 Christmas light strands (see pic). Gently place 6-8 halved mini M&M’s into the black icing strands. Place on the baking sheet to allow the icing to “set”.
HOW TO DECORATE CHARLIE BROWN
For Charlie Brown’s hair, just pipe a wavy “3 shape” right at the top of 2 vanilla Oreos, with black icing. Add eyebrows and 2 small dots for his eyes. For the nose, draw a backwards “C”. Finally, draw a smile.
HOW TO DECORATE CHARLIE BROWNS’ SWEATER
With the black icing tube, draw zigzag lines across the middle of the 2 yellow Oreo cookies. Pipe another zigzag line about a half an inch underneath that one and fill it in with the black icing. Place back on the lined baking sheet.
HOW TO DRAW LUCY
Pipe Lucys’ hair up at the top of 2 vanilla Oreos (see pic). Her eyes are shut so draw 2 lines that resemble eyebrows. Draw a backwards “C” for her nose. Lastly, draw a big smile.
HOW TO DRAW LINUS
For Linus’ hair, draw short, randomly spaced lines up at the top of 2 vanilla Oreos. Add eyebrows and two small dots for the eyes. His nose is a backwards “C”. His mouth is an oval shape that is not filled in with icing.
Aren’t these SO cute?! And really, not that difficult when you take them step by step. Using the candy mold is really the trick to making these work and look nice and neat. You could also use royal icing if you wanted but I recommend using mini squeeze bottles instead of a piping bag to put the details on to make it easier for the kids.
