One of our goals as a family this year is to give more. We chose to start off the year by giving to fight off my youngest’s least favorite thing – the cold! We do live in the desert, but it gets below freezing some nights and other places get even colder. Burlington has an annual Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Coat Drive that benefits people most in need directly in your community!
Helping out with something that means a lot to kids or something that they can understand helps drive them to want to do more to help. We found lots of coats just in our own home and the boys even collected more from friends.
We ended up taking a few trips because the boys didn’t want to stop collecting coats. I think a few REALLY cold nights a few weeks ago made them really think about those in need as well.
