We’ve gotten LOTS of comments on some updates we’ve done to our home throughout the years so I thought I’d share the latest that I am SO happy to have done. The door knobs! Goodbye cheap knobs that have been here since the house was built – hello gorgeous new modern industrial Schlage® door hardware thanks to our partnership with Schlage®!.
I don’t know why it took me so long to change out the door hardware in this house. It’s one of the first things I did in our last house because it’s such a simple way to update the house for both design and safety reasons. We had very basic bright (but heavily chipping) brass knobs that came with the house when it was built.
None of the other hardware is brass but the doors. We painted ALL the walls before we moved in, then we updated the floors, the kitchen and recently a little makeover to the boys’ bathroom. Right before Thanksgiving when family was coming over I decided to switch out all the door knobs.
The best part about a door hardware makeover is that it’s super simple with Schlage®. They are guaranteed to fit on standard existing pre-drilled doors so all you need is a screwdriver!
I went with the Schlage® Latitude Lever with Century Trim in a gorgeous matte black. I wanted something that would be a little modern but go well with the bit of industrial flare I have going on right now and these definitely fit the bill! Industrial has really transitioned from a theme that would encompass an entire space to manifesting itself in accessories that can be mixed with other themes. The Industrial color palette is also becoming lighter while some key elements—such as pulleys and Edison bulbs—are perpetuating in other styles. It’s all about the details in a home isn’t it? From stickers on the boys’ door to the fun accents on the shelf in the bathroom, these are the things that tell your story. Hardware is the perfect way to update your home style and really pull everything together. It makes such a difference! Schlage actually recently launched a campaign, “Open Possibilities,” to bring door hardware to the forefront as an accessory that can complete or enhance the look of any room. Check out their video!
I changed all the door knobs in the house in just about an hour. It’s that simple. I don’t think there’s another DIY project you can do that quickly and easily that has such an impact!
