I was asked if we wanted to be sent a copy of the new book Made by Dad (affiliate link) to review. I jumped at the chance because Scott at What I Made is one of my favorite crafty bloggers.

I was completely blown away when I got the book. I couldn’t put it down. I even told my husband that if I ever made a book I want it to be this good. It’s that good.

The book is loaded with GREAT ideas of things to make with your kids and all displayed in Scott’s signature style. Each project has a blueprint with detailed and easy to follow instructions.

Here’s a video about Made by Dad

My boys could not decide what they wanted to make first. They might as well have dog eared every page. If you are looking for inspiration you’ll find it in this book.

Since they were begging to make something we went with a simpler project for our first and made a black hole on the wall.

And I loved this description from Amazon: “No screens, no hi-tech gadgetry. Made by Dad combines the rough-edged, handmade ethos of a Boy Scout manual or The Dangerous Book for Boys with a sly sense of humor that kids love. Scott Bedford, a creative director by day and Webby Award–winning blogger by nights and weekends, wields an X-ACTO knife, magic marker, and prodigious imagination to create endlessly delightful projects for his two sons. He knows that kids like contraptions and gadgets, things that are surprising—a chair that appears to be balanced on eggshells. Things that are complex—a multilevel city, with buildings, tunnels, and roads, built from old boxes around the legs of a table. And especially things with humor—the Snappy Toast Rack, made to resemble a crocodile’s gaping mouth.”

With things like the Milkshake Monster and bookshelf Titanic there is something every kid is sure to love and the DIYer in the family will love it too. A bit of engineering, construction and tons of fun. We can’t get enough of the endless hands on activities in this book and recommend it highly. I think you will absolutely love it.

It would make a GREAT Father’s Day gift too!

You can purchase Made by Dad on Amazon (affiliate link) right now for $14.07 and let me tell you it is worth so much more.

As if I wasn’t enough of a fan – What I Made has a fun (free) Father’s Day printable My Hero card complete with medals!

(Disclosure: I was provided a book for free but was not required to post or gush in any way. All gushing is my own 😉 Affiliate links are links that reward me with a small fee for referring you but does not affect your price in any way)
